“Wa! Germany” has opened at Expo 2025 in Osaka, and Germany invites the world to a dialogue on the circular economy! At the symbolic red ribbon-cutting ceremony, Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and Petra Sigmund, German Ambassador to Japan, officially opened Germany's pavilion to the public on the 13th of April. The pavilion includes an interactive exhibition showing numerous best practice circular innovations "made in Germany". And we are very proud to be selected by the curators as one of them, with our biocircular material innovation traceless®!

Theme and leitmotif: Mutually shaping a circular world
The Expo 2025 sees itself as a testing ground for the society of the future. Between 13 April and 13 October 2025, countries from around the world are meeting at Expo Osaka to embrace the motto “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. The aim is to discuss how society can achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. As a “People’s Living Lab” for mapping out the society of the future, this Expo is being conducted as a field experiment to probe new systems and technologies.
To inspire innovations and point the way towards implementing them in tomorrow’s sustainable society – that is its objective.

Inspired by the Japanese word that means “harmony”, “circle” and “Wow“, Germany invites visitors from all over the world to discover innovative solutions for a sustainable circular economy. The focus is on forward-looking concepts that promote the responsible use of natural resources – showcased in a multisensory exhibition with a strong edutainment component. It is all based on the notion of circularity or – translated into design terms – on the shape of a circle: the Pavilion itself, the visitor experience, the design, the technologies and future visions presented all assume this form.

“Our goal with ‘Wa! Germany‘ is to show the world how the innovative, 'Made in Germany' circular economy is not only an ecological mandate, but also socially exciting. We are delighted to present this place of exchange, education and transformation to the global public.“ Parliamentary State Secretary Michael Kellner, BMWK, at the opening ceremony

Best-practice circular innovations made in Germany – featuring traceless!
At the heart of the journey is the Circular Economy room - a stunning mobile of 60 spheres representing sustainable products from industries like construction, chemistry, and mobility. One of them: traceless materials! Dynamic projections around the walls transform the spheres into a digital galaxy, offering inspiring insights into Germany’s solutions for a sustainable future. At the central media table, visitors can interactively discover how circular economy comes to life. Here’s where they can deep-dive into the innovation behind traceless: They learn how our material follows the principles of the biological cycle, why it is beneficial for both people and planet, and how exactly we create it using plant leftovers of the agricultural industry.
“It’s a huge honour to be represented in the Expo pavilion, alongside many circular innovation best-practices made in Germany. Jointly, we show how we shape the circular future!” Dr.-Ing. Anne Lamp, CEO & Co-Founder traceless
Future-proof architecture – in line with the circularity principle
Featuring seven cylindrical buildings, the German Pavilion is designed and constructed in line with circular principles. As a symbol of sustainable construction, the cylinders and building materials can all be reused after the Expo.
An exhibition for playful learning
The charming "Circulars" are digital guides that accompany visitors throughout the interactive, informative and emotionally engaging exhibition. As audio guides, the “Circulars“ make the visitor experience truly special thanks to their clear language and identifiable characters.
